about us

PT Sankai Djaya Mandiri (“Sankai”; ”善凯”) is set up to develop a sustainable timber and green bio-energy business such as charcoal and briquette in Indonesia.

Sankai is located in Gunung Mas, Central Kalimantan. Central Kalimantan or traditionally known as Borneo, home to the indigenous inhabitants the Dayaks, supports the largest tropical rainforests in Southeast Asia and is the richest of the Sunda Islands floristically in terms of total species richness and diversity, rivalling the Amazon Basin.

Sankai Industrial Plantation

Sankai has a variety of tree types that consist of the following: keruing, red meranti, meranti batu, white meranti, pelepak, nyatoh dan bintangor. Majority of the timber based on survey would be of Meranti type.

Wood waste from logging and timber mill such as wood log waste, wood chip and sawdust will be recycled and converted into wood charcoal and/or briquette.

Replanting strategy planned is acacia and/or eucalyptus trees that may be used to produce wood chip, plywood and charcoal/briquette.

Bioenergy – Biomass
A Sustainable & Renewable Energy Resource

The impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly real and are beginning to affect local and global development. Bioenergy is one of many diverse resources available to help meet our demand for energy. It is a form of renewable energy that is derived from recently living organic materials known as biomass, which can be used to produce transportation fuels, heat, electricity, and other products.

Sankai aims to be a hardwood charcoal and briquette producer using wood waste as part of sustainable and renewable resource for energy. Sankai estimates 25,000-30,000 MT annual supply of hardwood charcoal/briquette.
